Clean thoughts

The Laundry blog

Don't mean to be rude, but…

This week has been a curmudgeonly week, so I’ve been looking into insults:

Jess says the best one she’s ever heard was about Kelly Osbourne who apparently looks like

‘a fat goth who’s been covered in Pritt Stick and rolled through Claire’s Accessories’

N.O.S – a term from Edwardian England used in the snobbish sense of ‘not our sort’ as in ‘N.O.S, dear’

She sounded like the Book of Revelations read out over a railway station public address system by a headmistress of a certain age wearing calico knickers
(Clive James on Margaret Thatcher)

My absolute favourite for it’s obscurity:

  • Mun – short for “mundane,” occasionally used by people with ADHD or Asperger’s with the intent of discrediting those who call ADHD and Asperger’s neurological ‘disorders’ similar to calling them “fuddy-duddies”
  • I also like, boob, blobhead, assface and period drinker
