How do you like to Party?

I’ll let you in to a little secret, and I really CAN NOT say very much more its top top secret- but we are planning a Laundry party!! Oh yes, winging its way into your inbox VERY shortly will be an invite from Ms Rachel Fleming to come and celebrate our 1000th customer sign up. I know! From such little beginnings we have grown and grown, acorn to oak n’ all that jazz.

Anyway…

Parties have been on my brain a bit today, trying to blag a little freeby-love to make it an extra special part for our valued recycling customer massive. And it got me thinking…

There are so many ways we like to celebrate. When you’re 7 and its all about jelly and ice cream and cakes fashioned into hedgehogs or topped with desiccated coconut dyed green to give the impression of a football pitch and sulking when you don’t win pass-the-parcel, or, as I remember, catastrophic accidents like my next door neighbour Joe falling out of our tree after too many e numbers and being trundled off to casualty…

Then a little later, though not too many years, parties are all about getting away with things you shouldn’t- like drinking.. It all starts with a little poaching of your mum’s stale bottle of baileys, maybe mixed with a little sloe gin- you know, just to see how well they go together, and ends up with (in my case anyway) Jenny puking into a tea pot, quite the opposite of a dainty ladies tea party, which is more about mixing Battenburg and earl grey. And drinking really doesn’t seem to help parties go more smoothly as you go through life- crusty, old, mum’s bailey swaps to waffle inducing wine and…

The snooty-tooty dinner party- why not? Yes, complicate things by trying to entertain ‘guests’ with fancy ‘cuisine’ and before you know it you’ve got Bridget Jones-style blue-stew or in my dear old mother’s case: trifle on the floor. Which after a little squeeking and effing and blinding didn’t stop her scooping it back up and returning it to the bowl! MMMmm..

How do you love to party, fair Laundry folk?
