Things that make people happy

Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans ipod

This New Year’s Eve I happened to be in a pub filled with revellers and their friends and families. There were all shapes and sizes of people; from the very old to the barely legal in various states of sobriety and jubilation. We approached midnight and as the publican scrambled to distribute party hats, poppers and the like I stepped in to help out. There’s something really rewarding about giving people balloons and such. The immediate joy and silliness it provokes is quite warming to the ol’ cockles. It would be a great job: Resident Fun Enhancer…Hmm…I might be on to something. This altruistic experience got me thinking about the things that make people happy. Balloons. They never disappoint. Whoever, wherever, whenever. A balloon floating loftily towards ANYONE will be sent with a gentle ‘boink’ towards the next person, followed by a smile. It’s amazing. That latex jolly has the power to light up even the most dour of faces. What else does this? Other things I have discussed are rainbows, shooting stars, coincidences. Any ideas?

What else, in your rich experience, unfailingly makes people happy, smiley humans?
